Christmas at Dollywood

Does anyone know or has anyone seen the Christmas show at Dollywood. I know the park really goes all out for Christmas and I have heard rave reviews but didn't know details except that it's Babe's in Toyland . . . maybe?

And is it too cold to be walking around?

Picnicking at Metcalf Bottoms

The mountains are always fun and what we do when we come to Pigeon Forge. We always have to get at least one hike in. This time we found Metcalf Bottoms, where it is a really clean and beautiful place to picnic for the day. The river was running and so clear. We found a beautiful spot with a grill and picnic table and really enjoyed the afternoon. This place is only about 20 minutes outside of Pigeon Forge!

I will be visiting Pigeon Forge in August and was interested in renting one of the Chalets from Fireside. The one I was looking into was Sunset Passion. Has anyone ever rentd this chalet before? If so can you tell me about it?

Even if you have seen Dixie Stampede in the past, you should plan to see it again. Majestic longhorns have replaced the buffalo. The Spirit of the Bird is also part of the opening act that is brought about by the Native American Medicine Man as the story goes. He calls down the Spirit of the Bird. She is a young lady in a beatiful costume. This all takes place under black light. Now, I am not going to say anymore and spoil it for you. You just need to go to Pigeon Forge and experience it for yourself. When I visited, even high school teenagers gave this show a big thumbs up, which speaks volumns.

I was at Dollywood May 19th and the 21st of this year! I love Dollywood so much that I go 2 or 3 times a year. This year I purchased the gold season pass and I more than got the price of my pass back in my savings through out the park. I will be heading back to Dollywood in Oct. for my birthday and again in Nov. for Christmas at the park. Two of my favorite things once inside the park a frozen lemonade and a funnel cake not at the same time but definately both every trip. I have to mention the shows they are a must see. I love the entertainment and the Bald Eagles are a must see. If you visit Dollywood more than once a year the savings of a gold pass are tooo good to pass up.

My family and I love Pigeon forge and Gatlinburg. We usually spend a week up there when we go. But we have a problem.

A Mountain Quiltfest

I've always loved quilts since my mother hosted quilting parties in the past. But I have never seen quilts like those on display at the yearly Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. My friend and I go every year. This year, it is March 12-16, and admission to the quilt displays is free! Some are very expensive, but for all the work that must go into the quilts, they are worth it. My friend and I like to look at the wearable art and small wall hangings.too.

If you are a quilter, which I am not, I hear the vendor show each year, is one of the best around for buying items that you need. There are also leading quilt instructors if you'd like to learn more about quilting. So you can participate as much or as little as you like---learn a lot or just enjoy the wonderful quilts like my friend and I do.

I recently took my 15-year old granddaughter and three of her friends to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for a Valentine Weekend. We ate, had fun, and shopped! Now I am a shopper myself, but those girls shopped like I have never seen before. From all the shoe stores to the just-right clothing at the outlet malls, they found it all! But I think their favorite shopping spot was Walden's Landing with Stages West being a close second. At Walden's Landing, they bought more shoes at Birkenstocks and it seemed like one of each thing in the store at Verbena's. They each selected a pair of Brighton earrings at Stages West and had fun trying on boots!

8th Annual Saddle Up

My family and I love this event. Everyone loves cowboys from the Old West movies. Well, on February 21-24, in Pigeon Forge, you can experience the Old West east of the Mississippi. Some of the biggest names in Western entertainment will be there. We heard the Cowboy Symphony last year, and I understand that it is on the program again this year. So put on your jeans, bandanas, and boots and go to Pigeon Forge for this great event. I promise you will have a great time as my family and I did.

On ABC evening News, there was a story about indoor skydiving in California. Flyaway, an indoor skydiving attraction has been in Pigeon Forge for many years. For those of you who are looking forward to Zorb,you should plan to check out Flyaway. It is fun!
