    Picnicking at Metcalf Bottoms

The mountains are always fun and what we do when we come to Pigeon Forge. We always have to get at least one hike in. This time we found Metcalf Bottoms, where it is a really clean and beautiful place to picnic for the day. The river was running and so clear. We found a beautiful spot with a grill and picnic table and really enjoyed the afternoon.  This place is only about 20 minutes outside of Pigeon Forge!

The next time that you visit Metcalf Bottoms make sure to visit the Greenbriar school house.  It is a short hike from the picnic area.  My daughter always had a great time pretending that she was going to school there.  It made her appreciate all of the "luxuries" that she had at her own school.  I am glad that you enjoyed your time in the mountains.  I love them too.
